The Energy Bus

The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon
On my white board at the Natalya Price Group headquarters is the equation:
E + P = O
Events + Positive Energy = Outcome
In Jon Gordon’s The Energy Bus, this simple equation is part of Rule #3 – Fuel Your Ride with Positive Energy - and it is my new mantra. You see, what this rule is illustrating here is the simple law of attraction: that what you think about, and expend the most energy toward, you will ultimately attract. So it stands to reason, if you think positive thoughts surrounding all your events, you will have positive outcomes.
In my 20’s, I read Norman Vincent Peale’s, The Power of Positive Thinking and it changed my life. I slowly started replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts, or putting a positive spin on negative events, and I watched my life change before my eyes. Things started happening for me: new friends and a new apartment, landing an incredible job opportunity, saving enough to go to grad school, etc. In my 30’s, I was married and with kids, working part-time at a job I enjoyed and my sister, who felt like she just couldn’t land a break, said to me, “How is it that you get everything you want”? I responded by saying, “Because I envision it, think positive thoughts around it, and it happens.” The Energy Bus is an engaging tale about a man named George who is on the brink of losing his job and his marriage. Forced to take the bus due to a flat tire on his car, George meets Joy, the bus driver of Bus #11, and an Energy Ambassador who changes his life by teaching him ten simple rules that will change his life:
1. You’re the drive of your bus.
2. Desire, vision and focus move your bus in the right direction.
3. Fuel your ride with positive energy.
4. Invite people on your bus and share your vision for the road ahead.
5. Don’t waste your energy on those who don’t get on your bus.
6. Post a sign that says No Energy Vampires Allowed on your bus.
7. Enthusiasm attracts more passengers and energizes them during the ride.
8. Love your passengers.
9. Drive with purpose.
10. Have fun and enjoy the ride.
This book is a quick read, thoroughly engaging story, and has many takeaways. I highly recommend it. Enjoy the ride on The Energy Bus!
