Recycle, reuse, repurpose.  This is the “green” mantra and what better place to recycle, reuse and repurpose then in fashion. Recycle, reuse and repurpose in fashion is best represented in the used clothing market such as consignment shops and thrift stores.

These shops offer you the opportunity to purchase designer and name brand clothing at a fraction of the price. What is no longer appealing or flattering on one person can update another’s wardrobe.   If you are handy with a needle and thread, buttons from an expensive, out-of-style or vintage clothing item can be transferred onto a new in style, but inexpensive garment to add a unique, expensive look without the cost.

On a recent visit to Summit’s Junior League Thrift Store and Green Street Consignment Shop, I found items from Tory Burch, Eileen Fisher, St. John, Joie, 7 For All Mankind, Ralph Lauren, Lululemon and many, many other top brands.
