Family Friendly Activities At The Morris Museum This Summer!

The Morris Museum is a wonderful little museum in Morristown that caters to families with young children. It features the Bickford Theater, that offers both adult and children’s programming, all through the year. The summer offers lots of great shows for children. The museum is open Tuesdays-Sundays, has several pay as you wish days, and inexpensive to explore. The family membership is completely worth it! 

Here are all of the awesome events going on this summer! 


The Magic of Sharks - Tuesday, July 10, 11:00AM and 1:30PM

Magician Steve Woyce makes the magic happen with amazing shark facts in his high-energy show, where he blends comedy, magic, and storytelling, with a boat-load of audience participation.


Bubble Trouble - Wednesday, July 11, 11:00AM and 1:30PM

Jeff Boyer takes bubbles to the max in this one-man extravaganza. It’s the craziest, most creative bubble show around! Jeff juggles, sculpts, and builds with bubbles, makes fog-filled bubbles, and more…he even puts a child in a bubble.


Harlem Wizards - Wednesday, July 18, 11:00AM and 1:30PM

The basketball antics of this crazy team returns. Get ready for ooh’s, aah’s and serious laughter, inspired by world class basketball tricks, fan participation, and of course, basketball wizardry.


Lasermania - Wednesday, August 1, 11:00AM and 1:30PM

A perfect, rockin’ family event. A Bickford favorite returns with pure laser fun set to contemporary, pop/rock music that is guaranteed to bring the house down!


Beauty and the Beast - Thursday, August 2, 11:00AM* and 1:30PM

Based on the original story by Madame Leprince De Beaumont, this production has all the magic and mystery that we have come to expect from this charming tale, plus some new characters that add to the fun on stage.


A Cache of Kinetic Art: Curious Characters - March 16, 2018 – June 20, 2018

This wonderful interactive exhibit is all about movement, energy, and a collection of kinetic art. Featuring the energy and vitality of kinetics, it features stimulating artistic displays, expressing the originality and resourcefulness of present-day artisans, while using traditional and contemporary media.  


Science Wednesdays: BASF’s Kids’ Lab Select Wednesdays in July and August at 1:00PM

BASF’s Kids’ Lab is a global program to spark children's interest in chemistry through safe and engaging, hands-on experiments. A Kids’ Lab session includes educator-led instruction, interactive lab experiments, and a takeaway for each participant. Designed for kids ages 6-12 and their caregivers, programs run 45-60 minutes in length, and are free with museum admission. Advance registration is required!


Explore Sand July 11 1:00PM

Sand that is a afraid of water? Sand that holds its shape? Find out how science makes certain kinds of sand behave differently than the sand we may find on the beach.


Rock and Write with Graphite July 18 at 1:00PM

Discover properties such as hardness and softness of minerals using different tools. Participants will try to write with pure graphite, and perform tests to see if the soft mineral can conduct electricity.


Hold Everything July 25 at 1:00PM

Don’t cry over spilled anything! Join us while we explore some interesting absorbent materials. Experiment with some household products before exploring an amazing chemical with a noteworthy property.


Fun with Fossils August 22 at 1:00PM

Did you know that some dinosaurs ate rocks? Learn about the prehistoric earth and facts about the creatures that lived millions of years ago. Hold fossils right in your hand and tour our new fossil exhibit. Then make your own “fossil cast” to take home!


Chemistry Family Day - Saturday, September 22, 2018 11:00AM – 4:00PM

Get a jump start on National Chemistry Week with a day of fun and learning! Enjoy exciting experiments in BASF’s Kids’ Lab, and explore science throughout the museum on this family fun day.

Annual Gem, Mineral & Fossil Sale Saturday, August 18, 11:00AM – 5:00PM

Shop with top mineral, gem, and fossil dealers. Thousands of specimens and books, jewelry (including overstock from the Morris Museum Collection) will be available for purchase.


Daily Demonstration: Guinness Collection of Mechanical Musical Instruments and Automata Every Tuesday – Sunday, 2:00PM
