Frosted Mistletoe Margarita

This holiday margarita is so delicious that we have made it twice already and it’s not even Christmas!! You know how much I love a good marg, and although I don’t usually gravitate towards frozen/blended drinks this one is perfect.

I adapted this recipe from Half Baked Harvest, and put my own spin on it! I found that adding agave instead of honey was a better choice since it brings out the agave flavors in the tequila. Then between the fresh cranberries, cranberry juice, and lime juice - it was very very tart. The orange zest does cut the tartness a bit but adding a squeeze of a fresh orange brings a little more sweetness. Alternatively, just add a little more agave than I did if you don’t love cran/orange flavor combo!

INGREDIENTS:

For the margarita:

  • 1/3 cup fresh cranberries

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cranberry juice

  • juice from half of a lime

  • 1.5 oz orange liquor

  • 3 oz silver tequila

  • agave to taste (1/4 cup)

  • 1 cup ice

  • zest from one orange

  • juice from half an orange

For the sugared cranberries:

  • handful of fresh cranberries

  • a touch of agave

  • granulated sugar

STEPS:

For the margarita:

  1. In a blender add fresh cranberries, cranberry juice, lime juice, orange liquor, silver tequila, agave, and ice.

  2. Blend until combined

  3. Add zest from one orange and orange juice

  4. Blend again!

  5. Run an orange wedge around the rim of a glass, and rim glass in sugar/salt combo

  6. Pour, garnish with a rosemary sprig and a few sugared cranberries and enjoy!

For the sugared cranberries:

  1. In a little bowl add a handful of fresh cranberries

  2. Squeeze a little agave on top and shake it around

  3. Add granulated sugar over it to coat and shake around
